2024

“A vintage of great freshness.”

2024 will be remembered as a vintage of precision. A very wet winter and spring brought early, intense downy mildew pressure, disrupting flowering and reducing potential, especially for Merlot. Summer was moderately warm with limited sunshine, and September—punctuated by regular rainfall—made ripening more challenging, with a few isolated outbreaks of botrytis. Harvest, from 19 September to 3 October, required rigorous sorting to keep only the very best, resulting in a small crop for our Grand Vin. Gentle vinifications reveal deeply coloured wines with clean, precise fruit, lifted by fine freshness. Demanding yet sincere, 2024 stands out for its finesse, balance and brightness, in the elegant, digestible style of Château Siran.

Harvest: From 19 September to 3 October 2024

Blend: 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot

Drinking window 5–10 years

2023

“An elegant and generous expression of our terroir.”

The 2023 vintage reflects all the nuance of Bordeaux’s climate. A humid, stormy start to the season required constant vigilance in the face of downy mildew pressure, met through precise vineyard choices and the teams’ commitment. A milder, cooler August followed by an exceptionally warm September created ideal conditions to perfect ripening. Grapes of impressive colour intensity, aromatic expression and balance made it possible to craft a dense, complex wine destined to age beautifully, while remaining particularly charming in its youth. A generous 2023, reflecting Siran’s resilience and the harmony of its terroir.

Harvest: From 11 to 30 September 2023

Blend: 49% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot

Drinking window 5–20 years

2022

“Is 2022 a new 1982?”

After a cooler 2021, 2022 asserted itself through extreme heat, with temperature peaks rarely seen in Bordeaux. The vine showed remarkable ability to adapt, even as the season confirmed the realities of climate change. Rainfall well below average resulted in low yields, concentrating the fruit. An early harvest and well-controlled winemaking produced a wine of intense fruit, ample and silky, underpinned by surprising freshness for the vintage. Quantities were limited, quality exceptional: 2022 delivers a great wine, powerful and precise, built for ageing.

Harvest: From 13 to 30 September 2022

Blend: 53% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot

Drinking window 5–30 years

2021

“The year of Cabernet the King.”

2021 is a vintage of precision, returning to a more classic, streamlined style. After a rather overcast spring, the season gradually regained balance, allowing fine ripeness levels—especially for the Cabernets. Cabernet Sauvignon leads with clarity and finesse, supported by a very expressive Petit Verdot that brings lift and freshness, while Merlot completes the blend with roundness. Lower alcohol levels and a fine tannic frame shape a harmonious, digestible and decidedly elegant wine—in the spirit of the great “fresh” vintages. A little different from our usual style, but just as charming.

Harvest: From 23 September to 9 October 2021

Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc

Drinking window 5-10 years

Merlots are rich and ample; Cabernets bring finesse and precision; Petit Verdots reach ideal ripeness. Already seductive when young, it will gain complexity over time, as great Margaux wines do.

Harvest: From 11 September to 3 October 2020

Blend: 47% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc
